Maintaining a safe environment and being able to muster an effective response is very important to our
parish. To help, the Safety Team has been organized to provide medical care and other assistance
before the arrival of the fire department, ambulance, or police.

Safety Team members receive training in first aid, CPR, AED (automatic external defibrillator), use of fire
extinguishers, and building evacuation procedures. In addition, they receive training on earthquakes,
bomb threats, and psychiatric emergencies. Finally, Safety Team members are trained to interact with
suspicious or unwanted persons, and to assist appropriately should we face harm from a dangerous
person.

We welcome people who have prior public safety experience and training. We also welcome those who
are regular attendees at Mass and other church activities and would like to receive the training needed
to be part of the team.
