John 6:51: "I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."

Basic Requirements for Service
- Be a practicing Catholic, distinguished in his/her Christian life, faith and morals
- Has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
- Be at least 16 years old
- Demonstrate a deep reverence for and devotion to the Eucharist.
- Possess the requisite abilities and temperament to carry out his/assigned duties
Short list of Duties/Responsibilities
- Distributing Holy Communion to the faithful during the celebration of Mass
- Being vigilant concerning the integrity of the Holy Eucharist
- Picking up a dropped Host off the ground and consuming it, checking for fallen particles
- Reverently cleaning any spillage of the Precious Blood using water and purificators
- Ensuring that those who present themselves for Communion receive the Host and do not walk away without first consuming the Host
- Cleaning the sacred vessels after Mass
